Masoor Dal Curry
A quick and flavorful red lentil curry made with simple spices, perfect for a healthy lunch or dinner.
Equipment
- 1 Pressure cooker
- 1 Spatula
Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils masoor dal, rinsed
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 inch fresh ginger grated
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 –2 green chilies chopped (optional)
- 1 tbsp oil or ghee
- 2.5 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds. Let them sizzle for 30 seconds.
- Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until golden.
- Add tomatoes and cook until soft. Stir in turmeric, coriander powder, and garam masala.
- Add rinsed lentils, water, salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20–25 minutes or until the lentils are soft.
- Adjust consistency with more water if needed. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.
